EDIBLE TALES: HO`OKUPU
Ho`okupu: To offer, to sprout, to grow
The onsite activities will lead into movement explorations as a way for the participants to process hands-on learning, land stewardship and discussions into transformative movements - in the Edible Tales space as well as their community. The culminating work, a documentary series and community hōʻike (presentation), will showcase and document the transformative experiences of Edible Tales community activities. We welcome participants to attend all monthly sessions from April to October and perform with us in our showcase at the hōʻike on October 28th, 2023.
Edible Tales: Hoʻokupu center Native Hawaiian wisdom and turn stories about food and ʻāina into community-centered dance exploration, actions and solutions. Our 2023 theme Ho`okupu (to offer, to sprout), explores the reciprocal relationship between giving and receiving, our interconnectedness to each other, and shared pathways to build community resilience and collaboration. Join us from April to October for monthly Edible Tales Ho'okupu MoveMEANT Sessions with an overall focus around wai / kai (all forms of water)!
Edible Tales: Hoʻokupu is a 6-month journey taking place on-site on loko iʻa, loʻi, pā honu, urban community gardens and even tūtūʻs kitchen. We invite you to join us on one or all of the events!
All our events are appropriate for all ages so feel free to bring the entire ʻohana.
